The Two’s Class

During the year we will teach or strengthen the child’s recognition of letters, colors and numbers. We will expose them to the signs of seasons, nature, music, and movement. They will develop a sense of individual responsibility, as they clean up after snacks and put toys back in their place. With a room full of toys that everyone wants, they will learn to share as well as interact more closely with other children. All of this will be accomplished through a combination of individual attention, group activities, hands-on projects, songs, puzzles, and books.

Two, three, and five day programs are available for two year old children. Children must be two years old by December 1st of the academic year. Class time is 9:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

The Three’s Class

We strive to make the three year old classroom a nurturing, stimulating, comfortable, safe environment. This fosters our main goal of socialization and age appropriate skill building. We use a play based, seasonal themed curriculum which incorporates learning of letters, numbers, and colors. We use games, crafts, songs, poems, manipulitives, and interactive play to facilitate this curriculum.

Two, three, and five day programs are available for three year olds. Children must be three years old by December 1st of the academic year. Class time is 8:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The Older Three’s and Four’s Pre-K Class

The focus in our Pre-K class is on helping each child become a well-rounded and productive citizen. We emphasize treating others kindly, work hard on sharing and taking turns, and learn many different ways to be happy together as a group. We spend time learning to listen to one another and we help the children learn to make decisions that will be in their best interests. All children are encouraged to try new activites, as well as to continue to play in the areas that they enjoy. Most importantly, we want the children to have fun!

A regular day in our classroom consists of free play in the morning, followed by circle time, when we discuss the calendar and any special upcoming events. We may work on alphabet or number concepts, talk about a holiday, discuss a current unit of study, or anything else relevant to what is going on during the particular day. Circle time is then followed by a more structured free play time, when teacher directed art activities and smaller group or individual learning may take place. We play outside, have a snack, and end the day with a whole-class story time. We encourage the children to use their imaginations, to experiment and to enjoy learning as they grow and change throughout the year. It is important to us that our students finish the year feeling happy, confident, and ready to move on to kindergarten.

This class is designed for older three year olds and four year olds. Children must be four by April 1st of the academic year. The class is a five day program that runs from 8:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
